November 11th, 2011- Reiki School + Clinic Director Kim Fleisher presenter at the Society for Integrative Oncology's yearly conference
Kim helped create and execute an outcome study of Penn Medicine's Reiki Volunteer Program. She presented information about the study, as well as an overview of Penn's Reiki Volunteer Program development, alongside of Penn's Integrative Program Director Dr. Jun Mao. The presentation was part of a moderated panel on Massage and Energy Therapy Research at the Eight Annual Conference of the Society for Integrative Oncology.
June 10th, 2011- Reiki School + Clinic Director Kim Fleisher receives Penn Medicine's Integrative Medicine and Wellness Advocacy Award
Kim was presented with the Advocacy Award at Penn's Integrative Medicine and Wellness Conference held at the Cira Centre on Friday, June 10th, 2011. Awarded for her efforts creating and hosting a thriving Reiki Volunteer program at Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center, the program has provided over 2300 sessions to patients receiving cancer treatment.
May 26th, 2011- The Abramson Cancer Center's Reiki Volunteer Program Receives the Team Building Award from Volunteer Services
Many of our staff and students participate in the Reiki Volunteer Program at The Abramson Cancer Center, co-created by Reiki School director Kim Fleisher. On May 26th our volunteer team was honored for our efforts by the Volunteer office of the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania.
April 19th, 2011- Intro to Reiki class for 6th Graders at The Philadelphia School
Reiki School Director Kim Flieisher gave a one-hour Reiki presentation. Q & A, and demonstration to the teachers and students of the 6th grade at The Philadelphia School. A good time was had by all, and we were very impressed by the students thoughtful questions, as well as their deep reflections shared on their experience with Reiki. Thank you, TPS!
April 13th, 2011- Animal Reiki Training Class does Reiki Clinic at PAWS
Instructors Janice Walker and Christine Peacock brought students to offer Reiki treatment to the animals at PAWS animal shelter at 2nd and Arch. The night was a huge success! For more pics, visit our FB album. Our 8-wk Animal Reiki Training includes 2 weeks of clinical practice at PAWS and 2 weeks at The Companion Pet Hospital.
April 8th, 2011- Reiki School Director Kim Fleisher is expert panelist for the Integrative Medicine and Wellness Case Conference at The Focus on Head and Neck Cancers Conference
January 2010- The Reiki School + Clinic guest edits The Reiki Digest
The Reiki School + Clinic guest edits the popular, international Reiki blog The Reiki Digest. Our topic? One of the things we're best known for, creating community. The blog post includes an article on creating community, a roundup of Reiki news from around the world, celebrity Reiki spottings, music we love to practice to, and some waka poems written by staff and students.
October 22nd, 2010- 3rd Focus on Lung Cancer Conference
Members of our staff, Laurie Elder, Michael Murphy and Kimberly Fleisher were honored to offer massage and Reiki treaments at the 3rd Focus on Lung Cancer Conference of The Abramson Cancer Center/PENN Medicine. During the conference we listened to a panel of survivors share their story, and survivor Donna-Lee Lista talked about the great care she received at PENN. She also credited weekly Reiki and massage treatments with helping her get through her bout with cancer and learn to live in the present moment, taking one day at a time. Thanks Donna, for sharing your inspiring story!
October 10th, 2010- Do Yoga Philly Festival!
We spent time with the crew at Dhyana Yoga and their amazing visiting teachers at the Do Yoga Philly Festival this weekend! Staff members Sharon Edelman and Kim Fleisher gave mini Reiki sessions and shared their knowledge. We also got to give a Reiki treatment to the adorable Kali Ma (yes, her tongue is always like that)!
September 24th, 2010- 3rd Focus on Prostate, Testicular, Kidney and Bladder Cancer Conference
Members of the Reiki School staff contirbuted as experts and therapists at the 3rd Focus on Prostate, Testicular, Kidney and Bladder Cancer - Living Well with Urologic Cancers. School Director Kimberly Fleisher spoke as part of a case conference panel on Integrative Medicine and Wellness. Staff Members Michael Murphy and Laurie Elder provided Reiki and massage samples for attendees. Laurie served as an expert answering questions. Our staff contributes as experts at many of Abramson Cancer Center's yearly conferences.
August 22nd, 2010 - Livestrong Challenge
The Reiki School Offers Reiki and Massage at The 2010 Livestrong Challenge
Recently some of our staff offered Reiki and massage to the cyclists at the 2010 Livestrong Challenge. We got to help at one of the pit stops hosted by PENN Medicine. The Riders braved the rainy conditions and raised nearly 3 million dollars to improve the lives of people affected by cancer!
